The problem

Rentals were running on the phone and a tool built for tours.

Most surf shops rent boards through tour-booking software or through calls and messages. Customers can't see which board they're getting. Staff can't swap one board when the swell changes without redoing the whole rental. No-shows cost money, and the owner finds out what sold at the end of the month.

This system was designed around how a rental counter actually works: one line per board, so every board can be picked up, extended, swapped or returned on its own, while the customer's booking stays in one place.

The owner's verdict
★★★★★ Surf Zone · Aguadilla, Puerto Rico

One of the best and most coherent rental sites I have seen, both on the customer side and staff side.

Becky TaylorOwner, Surf ZoneSurf shop in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, now running its rentals on this system. See the demo she mentions ↗

Passionate Minds LLC (Miriam) came by the shop and offered to rework our current rental site, which is a well known name in the rental business. As I was totally frustrated with the look and difficulty for our customers to navigate the front end of the site, and had requested multiple times from said company for help in reworking it, I was just offered a manual or a YouTube tutorial. The backend was a little easier but there were serious flaws. When you are a business owner you know how precious every second is for other more pressing problems. So the site limped along looking sad.

So with Miriam's help and my tweaks she came up with a wonderful product, to what I believe is one of the best and most coherent rental sites I have seen both on the customer side and staff side. Just take a look at the Demo on her website and you can tell the difference this will make.

She is also very easy and a pleasure to work with, super knowledgeable in fixing anything you might want different, and quick to respond.

So Fix it and Forget it and spend the extra time doing what you love.

01 · Your customers

They pick the board, not a category.

Every board in the rack is on the site with its real size and its own calendar. Customers mix a shortboard and a longboard in one cart, each with its own dates.

  • Live availability, held for 30 minutes while they check out
  • Deposit at booking, balance charged automatically at pickup
  • Protection plans offered before payment, never skipped
  • Board finder matches boards to height, weight and level
  • Your tees, hats and wax sold right in the rental cart
A board's own calendar, where the customer taps a pickup day and a return day

02 · Your counter

Change one board. Not the whole rental.

The staff side opens on today: who's picking up, who's out, what's overdue. One tap checks a board out. When the waves change, swap it or add a day in seconds.

  • Daily manifest of pickups and returns
  • Swap, extend or return a single board
  • Walk-in orders, refunds and manager-approved specials
  • Customer history and notes, like a ding before pickup
  • Automatic texts and emails: confirmation, reminder, return day, thank you
The daily manifest: each rental by board type with check-out and return buttons
The calendar: every board as a row, bookings as blocks
03 · You, the owner

Know what earns, every morning.

Revenue, bookings, average rental length and your busiest boards, for any date range. Export to Excel for your accountant in one click.

  • Revenue by month and by board
  • Which boards to buy more of, and which sit on the rack
  • Reviews: every renter gets a one-tap link to post on Google, with their words already copied. Low ratings also alert you, so you can make it right.
  • Payments go straight to your own Stripe account

04 · The AI layer

A shop assistant that never clocks out.

I'm a beginner, 5'9", 170 lbs. What should I rent Saturday?
A soft top around 8'0" will float you best. Two are free Saturday, $30 for the day. Want me to add one to your cart?
Yes please
Done. One 8'0" soft top, Saturday. Finish at checkout whenever you're ready.
For customers

Answers questions day and night, checks live availability, recommends a board and adds it to the cart.

For your crew

Ask in plain words: "who's overdue?", "move this rental to Friday". Every change waits for a person to confirm.

For you

Guardrails built in. It only quotes your real prices and policies, and it never changes a booking on its own.

Made for your shop

Your name. Your colors. Your boards.

It doesn't look like software you rent. It looks like your shop. In the demo, tap Make it yours, type your shop's name, upload your logo and pick a color. The whole site changes on the spot.

Questions surf shops ask

Before you book a demo call.

What is surfboard rental booking software?

It's an online system where customers pick an exact board, choose dates and pay a deposit, and staff run pickups and returns from one screen. Passionate Minds builds one for surf shops that tracks every board on its own calendar.

How is it different from Peek or FareHarbor?

Peek and FareHarbor are built for tours, so they book a category, not a board. This system books one line per board, so staff can swap, extend or return a single board without redoing the whole rental.

Does it take deposits?

Yes. Customers pay a deposit at booking and the balance charges automatically at pickup, straight to the shop's own Stripe account.

Does it work in English and Spanish?

Yes. The customer site, texts and emails can run in English and Spanish.

Can I try it before buying?

Yes. The live demo is a made-up shop running the real system. Book a board as a customer, then open the staff side and check it out. No card is charged.

What do surf shop owners say about it?

Becky Taylor, owner of Surf Zone in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, runs her shop's rentals on it. After years on a well known rental platform, she calls it “one of the best and most coherent rental sites I have seen both on the customer side and staff side,” and says Miriam is “very easy and a pleasure to work with” and “quick to respond.” Read her full review.
